The scheme aims to electrify rural households that have been left out of previous electrification efforts under the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana and the Saubhagya scheme. As of the 2011 census, there were a total of 44,672 villages in the state, out of which 43,963 have been electrified. The remaining 709 villages are uninhabited, and electrification will be prioritized once they become populated. The scheme also includes the electrification of households identified in the National Habitation Survey of 2003. A proposal for the electrification of 728,015 un-electrified households was submitted to the Ministry of Power, Government of India, on July 7, 2021, with an estimated cost of ₹1715.73 crores.
