Details

The Leather Training Scheme was initiated by the state government in 1990 to promote the leather industry and improve the production and quality of artisans. The scheme aims to prepare products with new designs and help individuals start their own employment. Under this scheme, training based on the latest technology for Nagra shoes and leather goods is provided through district industry and commerce centers. The training lasts for 2 months, with a batch size of 15 trainees for Nagra shoes and 20 trainees for leather goods. For the financial year 2023-24, a budget provision of 1.5 million rupees has been made.

Eligibility

The trainee must be literate, with preference given to those who have passed the 8th grade or have higher education. Individuals aged 18 to 35 from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, and the General category are eligible. The selection committee has the authority to grant a relaxation of up to 10 years in age.
