Details

The scheme "Late Jaswantsinhji Thakor and Late Rasiklal Andhariya Classical Music Scholarship" by the Sports, Youth and Cultural Activities Department, Government of Gujarat, aims to preserve and promote classical music in Gujarat by offering financial support to eligible Gurus for imparting training and to their disciples for receiving it. The scheme facilitates a 10-month classical music training period where selected Gurus can train up to 2 disciples, and both Gurus and disciples receive monetary assistance. The scheme is implemented by Gujarat Rajya Sangeet Natak Akademi, Gandhinagar, which releases a public advertisement annually inviting applications.


Benefits

  • For Gurus:
  • Financial assistance of ₹1,000/- per month for a duration of 10 months (i.e., ₹10,000/- per disciple) for training up to 2 disciples. For Disciples:
  • A scholarship of ₹10,000/- per annum, calculated at ₹1,000/- per month for 10 months, for receiving classical music training from the selected Guru

For Gurus:

  • Financial assistance of ₹1,000/- per month for a duration of 10 months (i.e., ₹10,000/- per disciple) for training up to 2 disciples.

For Disciples:

  • A scholarship of ₹10,000/- per annum, calculated at ₹1,000/- per month for 10 months, for receiving classical music training from the selected Guru.

Eligibility

For Gurus:

  • The applicant should be a classical music artist.
  • The applicant should have completed formal education in classical music or must possess at least 7 years of experience in teaching classical music.
  • The applicant should be capable of training a maximum of 2 disciples during the 10-month training period.

For Disciples:

  • The applicant should be a student of classical music residing in Gujarat.
  • The applicant should be undergoing training under an eligible Guru selected under this scheme.
  • The applicant should submit a certificate of training provided by the Guru.

Step 1: Applications are invited once every year through a public advertisement by Gujarat Rajya Sangeet Natak Akademi.
Step 2: Applicants must submit the prescribed application form along with required documents to the designated address.
Step 3: The selection committee evaluates the applications and selects eligible Gurus and disciples.
Step 4: Both Guru and disciple must submit a report of training conducted and received over 10 months.
Step 5: Upon successful verification, scholarship amounts are disbursed directly to the beneficiary accounts.
