The “Jharkhand Sportsperson Pension Scheme” was launched by the Department of Sports & Youth Affairs, Government of Jharkhand. aims to provide financial support to retired athletes for their lifelong contribution to sports. Athletes, including Arjuna, Dronacharya, and Dhyan Chand awardees, Olympic participants, and Commonwealth or Asian Games medalists, receive a monthly pension.

Eligibility

  1. The applicant must be a resident of Jharkhand.
  2. The applicant should be a sportsperson or dependent on the deceased sportsperson.
  3. The applicant must receive the Arjuna, Dronacharya, or Dhyan Chand awards, an Olympic participant, or a medalist in Commonwealth or Asian Games.
  4. The applicant should be retired from active sports.
  5. The applicant must be at least 40 years old (age relaxation up to 10 years for medically retired athletes).
  6. The applicant must not be employed in any government, PSU, or pension scheme.
  7. The applicant should have no criminal convictions.
  8. The applicant should not be receiving any pension from the Government of India or any other state government.

Application Process

Offline

Step-1: The interested applicant downloads the application form from the official website.
Step-2: In the application form, fill in all the mandatory fields, and attach copies of all the mandatory documents (self-attest, if required).
Step-3: Submit the duly filled and signed application form along with the documents to the District Sports Officer.
Step-4: Request a receipt or acknowledgment from the District Sports Officer to whom the application has been submitted. Ensure that the receipt contains essential details such as the date and time of submission, and a unique identification number (if applicable).

Processing of the Applications by the Concerned Authorities:

  • The DSO verifies the application and forwards it with recommendations to the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs.
  • Approval is granted by the committee formed under Jharkhand Sports Policy 2022.
  • Upon approval, the pension amount is transferred to the beneficiary’s bank account.
