Details

Jai Prakash Narayan Sarvodaya Vidyalayas, formerly known as Ashram Vidyalayas, were established to provide free, excellent residential education to underprivileged students from Scheduled Castes (SC), Other Backward Classes (OBC), and the General Category in Uttar Pradesh. The first Government Ashram Vidyalayas were set up in Rampur district in 1961, and currently, there are 101 such schools across 58 districts, including 69 for boys and 32 for girls. The scheme emphasizes character building, sports, and holistic development, with a reservation system allocating 60% of seats for SCs, 25% for OBCs, and 15% for the General Category. Additionally, 60% reservation is provided for the sweeper category in special schools.

Eligibility

Applicants must be:

  • Aged between 10 to 12 years for Class 6; age criteria for other classes as per regulations
  • Residents of Uttar Pradesh
  • From families with an annual income up to ₹46,080 in rural areas and ₹56,460 in urban areas
  • Passed 5th class for admission to Class 6
  • Eligible for reservation based on caste (60% for SC, 25% for OBC, 15% for General Category)

Application Process

Online

  2. Click on the 'Registration' option.
  3. Enter the applicant's name and mobile number; complete verification through OTP.
  4. Complete the registration process, upload a photo and guardian's signature (minimum 100 KB), and submit the form.
  5. Get the registration number; print the application form and submit it to the concerned school.
  6. Fill out the form in the prescribed format and attach the required documents.
  7. Submit the form to the superintendent/principal's office; collect the admission letter.
  8. Attend the examination at the designated examination center.
  9. Get admission if selected based on the merit list.
