Details

The Ministry of Power, Government of India announced the Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS) for urban areas with statutory towns having a population of more than 15,000 as per the 2011 census on December 3, 2014. The scheme includes the construction of new 33/11 kV substations, installation of additional power transformers, capacity enhancement of substations, and the development of 33 kV and 11 kV overhead lines as well as underground cable work. The IPDS was approved by the monitoring committee of the Ministry of Power on September 2, 2015. Sanction for implementation in Rajasthan was received from the nodal agency PFC on March 21, 2016, with a total cost of ₹1326.7 crore. The scheme covers 185 towns in Rajasthan, including 67 towns from 12 circles of Ajmer Discom, 63 towns from 13 circles of Jaipur Discom, and 54 towns from 10 circles of Jodhpur Discom. The funding pattern includes a 60% grant from the Government of India and 40% borne by the state/utility. The work completion period is set at 24 months from the date of the issue of the Letter of Intent.
