The Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS) was launched by the Ministry of Rural Development to provide financial assistance to widows aged 40 to 80 who belong to the below poverty line (BPL) category, with a BPL score ranging from 1 to 16 as prescribed by the Government of India. This scheme is part of the National Social Assistance Program (NSAP) and offers a monthly pension of ₹1250, which includes ₹300 from the Government of India and ₹950 from the Government of Gujarat. Over 300,000 widows benefit from this scheme.
