Details

The scheme "Incentive for the Devadasi Children’s Marriage to Schedule Tribe" was launched by the Tribal Welfare Department, Government of Karnataka. The scheme provides financial support to ST couples from the Devadasi community to reduce casteism and promote social acceptance. Couples married on or after 01-04-2019 are provided an incentive of ₹8,00,000/-, i.e. ₹3,00,000/- for the groom and ₹5,00,000/- for the bride. The application should be submitted within 18 months of marriage. The scheme is open to ST residents of Karnataka who marry either a Hindu non-ST or a Hindu ST individual, with a combined annual income of less than ₹5,00,000/-.

Eligibility

  1. The couple should be residents of Karnataka.
  2. The couple should belong to the Hindu religion.
  3. The total annual income of the couple should be less than ₹5,00,000/-.
  4. The application should be submitted within 18 months of the marriage.
  5. One spouse should belong to the Scheduled Tribe community and should be a resident of Karnataka.
  6. The marriage should have been between: (a) An ST individual and a non-ST individual; (b) Two ST individuals.
  7. The marriage should have taken place on or after 1st April 2019.

Application Process

Online

Step 1: Visit the official website of the Tribal Welfare Department, Government of Karnataka.
Step 2: In the right pane, click "Incentives to Devedasi Childrens Marriage". You will be taken to the Department's dedicated page of that scheme.
Step 3: On the scheme's homepage, scroll down to the bottom and click on "Registration".
Step 4: In the online registration form, fill in all the mandatory fields of the form and upload all the mandatory documents in the specified format and size.
Step 5: Carefully review all the information provided by you. After completing the form, click "Submit". You will receive a confirmation message via SMS from the Department, and an acknowledgement form will be generated.
Step 6: Print the acknowledgement form for future reference.

Post Application Processes
The Tribal Welfare Department will conduct a spot verification to verify the details provided by the couple and process the application further. After successful spot verification, the incentive will be credited to the couple’s joint account.
