The "Housing Assistance Grant" scheme is implemented by the State Sainik Board under the Sainik Welfare Department, Government of Uttarakhand. The scheme provides financial support to widows/dependents of soldiers martyred in wars and border clashes, as well as to war-disabled retired soldiers. Under this scheme, eligible beneficiaries receive a one-time grant for the construction or repair of a house during their lifetime.

Eligibility

  1. The applicant must be a resident of Uttarakhand.
  2. The applicant must be either:
  • A widow or dependent of a soldier martyred in a war or border clash, or
  • A war-disabled retired soldier.
  1. The grant is provided only once in a lifetime for the purpose of building construction or repair.

Application Process

Offline

  • The application form can be obtained from the District Sainik Welfare Office and must be submitted to the concerned office.
  • The following documents are required to be attached with the application: Attested copy of the Battle Casualty Report of the Martyr Soldier/War-Disabled Retired Soldier, Attested copy of the Part-II Order of Battle Casualty, Certificate of Dependents, Estimation of Building Construction/Repair Work issued by the Junior/Assistant Engineer, Certificate from the District Sainik Welfare Officer confirming that no Residential Assistance has been availed by the applicant from the State Government in the past.
  • After verification at the District Sainik Welfare Office level, eligible applicants are provided the sanctioned amount through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
