Details
The Hostel Scheme, implemented by the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, currently operates a total of 787 hostels for students from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, and Special Backward Classes. In the academic session 2021-22, 29,073 students were accommodated in hostels with a sanctioned capacity of 37,541. The online admission process for hostels began on July 7, 2021. Students residing in these hostels receive a monthly allowance of ₹2,500 for mess expenses and daily necessities. The hostels provide free accommodation, beds, utensils, food, warm sweaters, school uniforms, and other facilities.

Eligibility
Students from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, and Special Backward Classes. The annual family income limit has been increased from ₹2.5 lakh to ₹8 lakh to benefit more families. A minimum percentage score of 40% is required for re-admission to hostels.
