Details
The scheme aims to develop brackish water aquaculture in the coastal areas of Gujarat, specifically targeting saline lands that are unsuitable for traditional agriculture. With a total of 3.76 hectares of saline land identified, the initiative seeks to promote shrimp farming as a livelihood for local residents. The state government has identified approximately 89,000 hectares of saline land suitable for aquaculture. The scheme includes training for shrimp farming, financial assistance for renovation, and the purchase of necessary equipment such as bird and dog fencing. Additionally, shrimp seed feed will be provided by the government. Infrastructure facilities will be established to ensure affordable pricing of produce, thereby benefiting shrimp farmers financially.

Eligibility
Open to all fishermen in the coastal saline/alkaline soil areas of Gujarat. No specific income limits or educational qualifications are required.
