Details
The scheme aims to integrate children with special needs studying in classes 1 to 12 into mainstream education in the state. It focuses on enhancing their inherent abilities, providing educational and therapeutic support, eliminating discrimination, fostering positive societal attitudes towards them, and raising awareness about their rights and capabilities. The Escort Allowance is provided to children with special needs enrolled in government schools from classes 1 to 12 to assist them in commuting to and from school. This allowance is applicable for a duration of 6 months at a rate of ₹400 per month.

Eligibility
Children with special needs defined under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, who have 40% or more disability in categories such as orthopedic, visual impairment, hearing impairment, mental retardation, cerebral palsy, and autism. These children must be unable to travel to school independently and require assistance from their parents. A disability certificate issued by a competent medical authority is required.
