The scheme "Children's Tiatr Competition" was launched by the Tiatr Academy under the Art, Culture and Museums Department, Government of Goa. The scheme aims to encourage the development of Tiatr by providing a platform for children aged up to 16 years to participate in traditional Konkani theatre productions, addressing the growing enthusiasm among students and individuals to involve children in Tiatr activities. The scheme provides financial support to participating groups and awards mementos and certificates across multiple categories including best performance, individual artistes, direction, technical aspects, and musical components. The applicant must ensure all child performers are aged 16 years or below on the application submission date and themes must be compulsorily based on the lives of children only. The scheme is implemented by Tiatr Academy of Goa. The applications for this scheme are accepted offline through prescribed application forms.

Eligibility

  • The applicant must be an Educational Institution, Sports and Cultural Association, or Individual Producer.
  • The applicant must ensure all child performers are aged up to 16 years on the date fixed for submission of application.
  • The applicant must ensure themes of Tiatr are compulsorily based on the lives of children only.
  • The applicant must ensure the duration of the tiatr is not less than one hour and a half and not more than two hours and a half (including interval of minimum 10 minutes and maximum 15 minutes).
  • The applicant must present the Tiatr in the traditional format as approved by Tiatr Academy of Goa.
  • The applicant must ensure the Tiatr has 6 to 7 acts (podd'dde) with at least 4 cantos.
  • The applicant must ensure comedy is linked to the story of the play.
  • The applicant must include at least 8 Kantaram which should include 1 duet (Interactive), 1 Duo (Interactive), 1 Trio (Interactive), 1 Quartet/Quintet (Interactive), 1 Choral Song and Solos.

Priority

  • The first three award winners of the previous year's Children Tiatr Competition will get a direct entry into this festival, provided their entries are received before due date.

Other Conditions

  • Not more than 2 shows of the given script must have been performed prior to the performance at the competition.
  • No adverse remarks against any Governments, Individuals, Institutions or anything against caste, creed and religion in the scripts, lyrics of songs, performances, or speeches.
  • Artistes including technicians and backstage artistes whose names appear in the submitted list shall be permitted to participate only under that troupe (Only musicians can take part in more than one troupe).

Application Process

Offline

(The scheme announcement will be made in the local press. Wait for this official announcement before proceeding with the application)
Step 1: The interested applicant should take a printout of the prescribed format of the application form.
Step 2: In the application form, fill in all the mandatory fields, attach copies of all the mandatory documents (self-attest, if required). Sign the application form and mention the date.
Step 3: Submit the duly filled and signed application form along with the documents to -
Tiatr Academy of Goa, AS-1 / AS-4, Block A, 2nd Floor, Campal Trade Centre, Opposite Kala Academy, Campal, Panaji, Goa, India – 403001
*Applicants are advised to save a copy of the submitted application form and any acknowledgment.
*Applications are considered on a "First come First Serve" basis, subject to the availability of funds.
*If any applicant withdraws after the schedule is drawn by Tiatr Academy of Goa, full security deposit will stand forfeited.
*15 Educational Institutions, Sports and Cultural Associations, or Individual Producers will be given an opportunity to participate.
*In case Tiatr Academy of Goa receives more than 15 applications, a meeting of all applicants will be called and the selection of remaining 12 troupes will be done by lots.
*In case any of the 15 participants withdraws from the competition, the vacant place will be filled by the Troupe which is first on the waiting list.

Post-Application Processes

Step 1:**** Await Script Scrutiny Feedback
After submission, Tiatr Academy of Goa will scrutinize the script to verify whether it is related to the lives of children and check the interactive nature of kantaram. Feedback, if any, will be provided to the applicant within 10 days. The Academy has the right to make suggestions for improvement or reject the script completely if found unrelated to children's lives.
Step 2:**** Participate in Selection Process (If Applicable)
If more than 15 applications are received, attend the meeting called by Tiatr Academy of Goa where selection of the remaining 12 troupes will be done by lots. The first three award winners of the previous year get direct entry if their applications are received before the due date.
Step 3:**** Submit Final Documentation Before Competition
Submit the final typed copy of the script, typed copy of songs (kantaram), cast of the tiatr, and summary of songs to Tiatr Academy of Goa during office hours exactly 3 days before the date of commencement of the tiatr competition.
Step 4:**** Participate in Competition
Stage the Tiatr at the place and day identified by Tiatr Academy of Goa according to the announced schedule. The performance will be judged by a panel of judges appointed by the Academy, and their decision will be final and binding on all participants.
