Details

The scheme duration is from 2020-21 to 2024-25. The grant amount is 100% provided by the central government. The distribution ratio of funds among Panchayati Raj institutions is 5:20:75. According to the interim report presented by the Government of India, 40% of the grant will be basic grant and the remaining 60% will be tied grant. The basic grant amount can be used to meet the local needs of local bodies (Panchayati Raj institutions) excluding salaries or other establishment expenses. This includes street lighting, public building maintenance, and facilities such as primary/upper primary schools, health sub-centers, cooperative seed and fertilizer storage centers, roads and footpaths, parks, playgrounds, and the maintenance of cemeteries and cremation sites. The tied grant will be allocated in two installments as per the recommendations of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Government of India, and the expenditure department of the Ministry of Finance. 50% of the tied grant can be used for sanitation, open defecation-free status maintenance, and basic services for drinking water supply, water conservation, and water recycling.
