The Incentive Awards in the form of Cash assistance to Meritorious Sports Persons of Sikkim constitute a Government policy aimed at encouraging the youth to pave their future by engaging themselves in any sports. The scheme seeks to promote all-round development physically, socially, mentally and emotionally, thereby, contributing to the overall wellbeing of citizens in general.
The award has been introduced with a view to encourage and motivate sportspersons in their pursuit of excellence. The scheme applies for sub-junior/cadet, junior and senior level of sports competitions with equal quantum of awards for both men & women.
However, the achievement in an unauthorized or invitational tournament will not be considered under this scheme. Only tournaments organized under the aegis of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports/ SAI/ recognized Sports Federation at the zonal, national and international levels will be eligible. The disbursement of the cash award under this scheme is organized annually. Eligibility is restricted to sports persons who are Bonafide domiciles of Sikkim.
