Details
The scheme "Border Areas Scholarship" was launched by the Border Areas Development Department, Government of Meghalaya, aims to provide financial assistance to students from notified international border areas who face economic hardship. Under this scheme, year-wise scholarships or subsidies are provided to students studying in higher secondary schools and Colleges up to the Degree level. The Border Areas Development Department implements the scheme to help students continue their education without interruption due to financial constraints.

Eligibility
- The applicant should be a student residing in a village notified as a Border Area village by the Border Areas Department.
- The applicant's father and mother should have income derived entirely from the Border Area.
- The applicant should pass year-wise promotion examinations to continue receiving the scholarship.
- The applicant should maintain good conduct, regular attendance, and satisfactory academic progress.
- The applicant should not leave studies before completing the course.
Exclusions
- The applicant whose parents are in government service is not eligible.
- Students pursuing a Ph.D. or M.Phil. are not entitled to the subsidy/scholarship.
- The scholarship will be lost if the applicant participates in government political activities or demonstrations.
- B.Ed and M.Ed students currently pursuing the course are eligible, but those already in service are not entitled to the scholarship.
