Details

The Bhakt Shravan Kumar Day Care Centre scheme, initiated by the Rajasthan government, aims to ensure that senior citizens can live their lives joyfully in old age. This is achieved through the establishment of care centers for the helpless, destitute, aged, disabled, and elderly couples, facilitated by voluntary organizations. The scheme was introduced under the Rajasthan State Bhakt Shravan Kumar Welfare Service Ashram Rules, 2004. The centers provide care for men aged 60 years and above and women aged 55 years and above, focusing on fulfilling their needs such as medical services, adult education, health education, religious discourses, and visits to religious places. Additionally, the centers aim to benefit the community by utilizing the invaluable skills and experiences of the elderly. Each center accommodates 25 elderly individuals, offering free tea, snacks, roasted chickpeas, and occasionally special meals. Entertainment facilities such as television, playing cards, carrom, dholak, harmonium, Gita, Ramayana, and daily newspapers are also provided free of charge. Currently, there are 22 day care centers operating across 13 districts.
