Details

Bebe Nanki Laadli Beti Kalyan Scheme was launched by the Government of Punjab in 2011 with the objective of improving the gender ratio in the state. The scheme is a significant initiative aimed at preventing female foeticide and promoting the education and welfare of girl children. It provides financial assistance to eligible families at different stages to reduce the financial burden associated with the birth and upbringing of a girl child. Girls born on or after 1 January 2011 in the state of Punjab are eligible to avail the benefits of this scheme. Families with an annual income of less than ₹30,000 qualify for the scheme. To date, more than 26,000 beneficiaries have been covered under the Bebe Nanki Laadli Beti Kalyan Scheme.

Eligibility

  1. The girl child must have been born on or after 1 January 2011.
  2. The parents of the girl child must be permanent residents of Punjab.
  3. Abandoned girl children found on or after 1 January 2011 and residing in orphanages or Children’s Homes in Punjab are also eligible.
  4. The number of girl children born before this date will not be considered while determining eligibility.
  5. The benefit of the scheme is not applicable to newly born male children.
  6. The annual family income should be less than ₹30,000.
  7. Proof of income must be provided in the form of a Blue Card issued by the Food and Supply Department, Punjab.
  8. If the girl child drops out of school for any reason, the benefits under the scheme will be discontinued from that date onward.

  1. Applicants should contact to their nearest District Program Officer (DPO).1. Application Form will be provided by the Concerned DPO.
  2. Fill up the aplication form and submit all the required documents.
  3. Verification of the applicant will be done by the concerned authority.
  4. After verification eligible applicant can avail the benefit of the Scheme.
