Award For Meritorious Students Of Meghalaya In The HSSLC Examination (Science Stream)
Implemented by the Directorate of Educational Research & Training Meghalaya, Shillong, this scheme provides a one-time cash award of ₹10,000 and a certificate to meritorious tribal students from Meghalaya who pass the HSSLC Examination in the Science stream with an aggregate of 60% or above. Eligible applicants must be permanent residents belonging to the Khasi, Jaintia, Garo, Koch, or Hajong tribes.

Details
The Award for Meritorious Students of Meghalaya (HSSLC Science Stream) is an initiative by the State Education Department designed to honour tribal students who achieve top rankings in their districts. The scheme is dedicated to fostering a scientific temper and a competitive spirit, while simultaneously encouraging a passion for Mathematics and Science from an early age. By highlighting the practical importance of these subjects in everyday life, the government aims to inspire the next generation of local innovators.
Methodology:
- The award will be based on the merit of students in the current HSSLC Examination (Science Stream) mainly from schools/colleges of the different districts of the state.
- It is a one-time award meant only for tribal students of Meghalaya i.e., who possess the Schedule tribe certificate of Meghalaya.
- The number of awardees will be selected district – wise i.e., 20 (twenty) awardees from East Khasi Hills district and 6 (six) awardees each from the remaining 10 (ten) districts.
- The list of awardees will be furnished by the Controller of Examinations MBOSE Tura after the declaration of the current HSSLC Examination (Science).
- DERT will inform the concerned Principal of the school/colleges to intimate the concerned students for submission of necessary documents to DERT, Shillong.
- The screening of all necessary documents will be done immediately by DERT, Shillong.
- The final Selection of awardees will be done by DERT after screening the documents of the students.
- In case there are no awardees entitled to the award in any district, the award will be diverted to the students who are top among the students on the waiting list.
- After verification of the required documents of all awardees, the award amounting to ₹10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand) only per awardee will be transferred through NEFT to the account of the awardees and the certificate will be sent by post to the awardee’s residential address

Eligibility
- The applicant should be a tribal student belonging to the Khasi, Jaintia, Garo, Koch, or Hajong tribes of Meghalaya.
- The applicant should be a permanent resident of Meghalaya.
- The applicant should have passed the current HSSLC Examination from the Science stream.
- The applicant should have secured 60% or above aggregate marks in the examination.

Step 1: Open the National Scholarship Portal.
Step 2: On the homepage, go to Applicant Corner and click on New Registration.
Step 3: Click on “Click here for other Scholarship Schemes hosted”.
Step 4: Read the guidelines carefully, select the undertaking, and click Continue.
Step 5: Select the State of Domicile, Scholarship Category (Pre-Matric), Scheme Type (Scholarship Scheme), and Gender.
Step 6: Enter the applicant’s Name, Date of Birth, Mobile Number, and Email ID.
Step 7: Provide the Bank Details including Bank Name, IFSC Code, and Account Number.
Step 8: Select Aadhaar Number or Bank Account Number as the identification detail and click on Register.
Step 9: Verify the mobile number using the OTP received.
Step 10: Log in using the OTP and fill out the application form.
Step 11: After successful submission, an Application ID and Password will be generated for future reference.
