The scheme “Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY)” with the component of "Construction of Ice Plant/storage of minimum 10 tonne capacity", introduced by the Agriculture, Farmers Welfare and Co-operation Department, Government of Gujarat, aims to modernize cold storage and ice plant facilities to preserve fish in healthy condition and ensure hygienic delivery to consumers. Through this scheme, financial assistance is provided for the construction of ice plants/storage units of a minimum 10-tonne capacity, enabling fishermen and fish sellers to maintain the freshness of fish and improve income opportunities. The scheme is implemented by the Commissioner of Fisheries of the State Governments, with 60% contribution from the Government of India and 40% contribution from State Governments.

Objective of the scheme

  • Marine production in the Gujarat state is one of the leading in the country. The state lags behind in exports due to non-norms. So cold storage/ice plant modernization is necessary to keep the fish in healthy condition.
  • Insulated vehicle, three wheeler with ice box including e-rickshaw, and live fish vending center to deliver the fish in hygienic condition to the consumer, so that the consumer (customer) can get fresh and clean fish from the local area and get good returns to the sellers.
  • Around 27,000 small and large boats are operating in the state. To strengthen the safety and security of the fishermen and increase the income of the boat owner, replacement of the existing boats is necessary to increase the sea growth of the existing boats.

  • Unit cost is ₹40,00,000/- lakhs. The amount of assistance will be available at the rate of 40% of the unit cost for the beneficiary of the general category and 60% of the unit cost for the beneficiary of the women and ST/SC category
  • The benefit will be available as per the target (category) allocated by the Government of India. Remarks: 60% contribution from Government of India and 40% contribution from State Governments is paid. Minimum Time Limit (in Years) for Reclaiming Benefits: Once in a lifetime

  4. The applicant should complete the online registration on the iKhedut Portal.1. The applicant should obtain in-principle approval before purchase of the floor plan.
  5. The applicant should have his/her own bank account.

Preference/Reservation/Relaxation:

  • Women, SC, and ST beneficiaries are eligible for 60% assistance of the unit cost.
  • General category beneficiaries are eligible for 40% assistance of the unit cost.

Registration Process:

Step 1: The applicant may visit and apply online at the I-Khedut Portal.
Step 2: Click on 'Login' from the top right-hand side, then click on "Beneficiary Registration" and select any one from the 'Farmer' or 'Institutional' or 'Except For the Farmer' as the Beneficiary Type.
Step 3: Enter the 'Company Name' and Address if you have selected 'Institutional' or 'Except For the Farmer' as the Beneficiary Type. And for all select the District, Taluka, and Village, choose 'what type of account holder you are?', enter your Account Number and Name, solve the Captcha, and click 'Save and Next'.
Step 4: Enter your Mobile Number and E-mail address, click 'Send OTP', enter the received OTP, create and confirm a Password, solve the Captcha, and click 'Submit'.

Login Process:

Step 1: The applicant may visit and apply online at the I-Khedut Portal.
Step 2: Click on 'Login' from the top right-hand side of the homepage. On the home page, click on ‘Schemes’ and then click on ‘Agricultural Schemes’.
Step 3: Now select the scheme, click on the ‘Apply’ button, and an application page will open.
Step 4: Click on the "Apply New" button and submit a new application.
Step 5: Click on the "Update Application" button to add corrections to the application.
Step 6: Once the application is done, confirm it.
